Board Hires Superintendent Search Firm

Posted July 28, 2020: On Monday, July 27, the Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees voted 7-0 in favor of hiring the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) to conduct the search for a new superintendent.

Staff, parents and community members will have the opportunity to participate in surveys to give input on the selection process.  The search is estimated to take three to four months.

More information will be provided as it becomes available. 


Board Appoints Interim Superintendent

Posted July 16, 2020: At their July 15, 2020, meeting, the Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to approve the appointment of Keith Boles as interim superintendent.

“The Board is pleased to have such an experienced retired superintendent lead the district through this interim period,” said Board president Crystal Phalen. “Mr. Boles has devoted his career to public education and is passionate about serving students and supporting teachers. As we plan for the coming school year and the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board is confident that he will ensure all children in JISD continue to have access to an exceptional education.”

Mr. Boles comes to JISD with 28 years of administrative experience in both large and smaller school systems. Most recently, he served as the superintendent of Henderson ISD from 2010 until he retired in 2019. He served as the superintendent at Connally ISD from 2007-2010 and Commerce ISD from 2001-2007. Mr. Boles began his administrative career as a principal of Rosebud-Lott Elementary, where he served from 1992-97. Mr. Boles taught and coached in Fannindel ISD from 1990-91 and Honey Grove ISD from 1987-90.

Mr. Boles earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from East Texas State University and his superintendent certification from Tarleton State University.
