Albert HernandezOn Wednesday, September 18, the Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees approved Albert Hernandez as the district’s assistant superintendent.

“We are excited that Mr. Hernandez is bringing his leadership and experience to our district,” said Superintendent Dr. Bill Chapman. “Mr. Hernandez will help structure systems and processes that will ultimately deepen the learning experiences for all students in JISD.”

Hernandez will oversee areas including assessment and accountability, bilingual services, safety and security, and professional and leadership development.

Hernandez has a career in education that spans 27 years, including 10 as a campus principal and 17 in district leadership roles. Originally from the El Paso area, his most recent position was as the director of athletics for Socorro ISD, where he served since 2016. He worked in Round Rock ISD from 2000-2016 in various capacities including as the director of community education and principal of Stony Point High School. Hernandez began his career in 1992 and has previously served in roles including teacher, head coach, assistant principal and coordinator.

Hernandez earned a bachelor’s of arts in history from Wingate University in North Carolina and his master’s in educational administration from Texas State University in San Marcos. He recently earned his superintendent certification from Texas State University.

Hernandez’s first day in JISD was September 26.
