Chapman accepts the Community Builder AwardJarrell ISD Superintendent Dr. Bill Chapman was presented with the Community Builder Award by the San Gabriel Masonic Lodge #89 at a ceremony on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020.

The Community Builder Award was designed by the Grand Lodge of Texas to enable a Lodge to recognize outstanding non-Masons who have distinguished themselves through their service to the community.

“The Masons have a long history of supporting education that goes back many, many decades,” Master of the Lodge Greg Yalch said in his remarks. “We love that we always feel welcome in Jarrell ISD.”

Hundreds of students, staff and community members attended the Grand Opening of Igo Elementary last August. During the event, Masonic Lodge #89 held a cornerstone ceremony. The engraved stone is now on display at the school as a testament to Masons’ continued support of the students and schools in JISD.

“It was an honor to be a part of that special event in Jarrell ISD. We thank you for that opportunity,” Yalch said.

“My father is a Mason and both of my grandfathers were Masons, so I know how valuable this group is to our community,” Chapman said. “I am deeply honored to receive this award, and I thank all of the members of San Gabriel Lodge #89 for this honor. I look forward to our continued partnership.”
