Family Health Center Coming to Jarrell ISDOn August 19, 2020, the Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees approved a partnership with Texas A&M College of Nursing and Bluebonnet Trails Community Services to establish a Family Health Center at Jarrell ISD. The collaboration between the district, university and specialty health care provider will increase access to quality medical and behavioral health care within the Jarrell ISD community.

The Family Health Center at Jarrell ISD will open its doors in the Fall of 2020 and offer services to patients that would otherwise be inaccessible in the community. The clinic site will be located at 500 N. 5th Street.

Keith Boles, Interim Superintendent, explained who may be served through the clinic, “Jarrell ISD staff, students and their family members may access immunizations, sports physicals, medical examinations for illnesses, infections, colds and flu – and specialty care including psychiatric evaluations, medication reviews, counseling, and care coordination.”

The clinic is made possible by a three-year federal grant award through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Texas A&M College of Nursing licensed faculty will provide medical care. Mental health and substance use counseling will be provided through Bluebonnet Trails Community Services.

As a clinical partner, Bluebonnet Trails Community Services Executive Director Andrea Richardson adds, “This collaboration places licensed mental health and substance use counselors in a school-based clinic working alongside a medical practitioner.”

When the doors open during Fall 2020, the clinic will offer walk-in appointments as well as scheduled appointments. The clinic is supported by federal and state funds and is committed to healthy families regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. As a result, persons receiving a service that is not funded through the federal and state grant dollars will be charged on a sliding fee scale. The scale is based on an ability to pay for the services considering family size and family income.

More information about the Family Health Center at Jarrell ISD will be made available as the clinic prepares to open.
