Posted on 12/05/2019
SHAC will meet on Dec. 18 at 5 p.m. Staff, parents and community are invited. Jarrell ISD is establishing a School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) to support the district’s efforts to assess the needs of all students and design programs to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes they will need to become healthy, productive citizens.

The next SHAC meeting will be Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 5 p.m. at JISD Annex Activity Center (502 N. 5th. St. in Jarrell) from 5-6 p.m. Staff, parents and community members are invited to attend. (The JISD Annex Activity Center is the former Jarrell Intermediate School cafeteria.)

The upcoming SHAC meeting will include a presentation with STARRY of Round Rock on the early warning signs of mental health issues and suicide prevention. There will be time for a question and answer session.

STARRY provides counseling services to families with children from birth to 17 years of age who need assistance resolving family conflict or who are facing other difficult situations. STARRY provides evidence-based and promising practices through individual and family counseling, youth and parent skills groups, training, workshops, and family crisis services all provided at no cost to the family.
