New student enrollment

If you would like to register your child to attend school in Jarrell ISD for the 2020-21 school year, please go to Ascender - Parent Portal  and use this guide to New Student Enrollment Guide (PDFNew Student Enrollment - En Español (PDF) to complete the process online. 

Please note: Students who were registered for Pre-K or Kindergarten during Pre-K and Kindergarten Roundup in May are registered for the coming school year and do not need to register again.

Returning student registration 

If you are the parent/guardian of a returning JISD student, please log into your Ascender - Parent Portal and click on the Returning Registration Link to complete this process for your child(ren). This link will be available until August 15.

To assist returning families with the online registration process, the district has made instructions available in English and Spanish:

Transfer application

To request to transfer into Jarrell ISD, please complete this application: Jarrell ISD Transfer Application (PDF)..

Enrollment documentation

Parents of new and returning students will be required to bring the following documents to their child's school (upon opening), or provide them by scanning them, to complete the enrollment process:

  • Your Photo ID (enrolling parent/guardian),
  • Student's original birth certificate,
  • Student's original Social Security Card and
  • Proof of Residency documentation


SCHOOL Registration Requirements

Age Requirements

State law requires school attendance between the ages of 6 and 18. A child must be 5 years of age on or before September 1 to enter kindergarten. To enter first grade, a child must be 6 years of age on or before September 1.

Document Requirements (K-12)

  • Birth certificate
  • Social Security card
  • Proof of physical residence
  • Parent's Photo ID
  • Transcript from previous school
  • Immunization record

Pre-Kindergarten Registration

The Jarrell Independent School District will offer an instructional program for eligible 4-year olds.

To Qualify:

  • Four years old on or before September 1
  • Limited English language proficiency
  • Income within guidelines for free/reduced meals (proof of income required)
  • Homeless
  • The child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed during active duty. Includes uniformed service members Missing in Action (MIA)
  • Fostered or adopted
  • Documents listed above
